DESPITE being behind after the first five minutes, Newcastle Benfield bounced back to see off Consett at the Sam Smiths Park on Wednesday night.
David Scorer put the visitors in front early on, but Benfield were back in the game ten minutes later when Paul Antony equalised.
The home side increased their advantage through Kevin Leighton after 23 minutes and two minutes later Michael Chilton scored when the ball unexpectedly bounced off his head and into the net.
Benfield created more chances in the second half, but it took until the 81 minute for them to score again, through sub Ross Peareth.
Consett added a second to their tally through Marc Walton on 85 minutes but it wasn't enough to salvage anything from the game.
